Australia’s Seasons

Australia is a country with four distinct seasons. Different seasons offer different pleasures. Most regions have four seasons – spring, summer, autumn and winter – while in the tropical north there are only wet and dry seasons.

The seasons in most parts of Australia are as follows: December to February, summer, is a great time to get outdoors, swim on Sydney’s beaches or hike Tasmania’s famous Overland Track. From June to August, enjoy a winter holiday skiing in the silvery Australian Alps or a warm winter holiday in the sun. . Dive the mild Great Barrier Reef or explore South Australia’s Simpson Desert in a 4WD. From September to November, visit the wineries of the Margaret River region in Western Australia to see beautiful wildflowers and whales swimming freely in the ocean.

In tropical northern Australia, the dry season, May to October, offers blue skies and sunny weather, perfect for experiencing Darwin’s lively outdoor markets, cinemas and festivals, while the wet season, December to March, is humid, hot and subject to almost daily rainstorms. See the beauty of Litchfield and Kakadu National Park’s rumbling waterfalls, or take advantage of the highest water levels in Katherine Gorge for a rare and spectacular view from above.

Our outdoor down jackets are perfect for skiing to your heart’s content in the beautiful Alps, or for a great winter holiday in our lighter down jackets for outdoor sports.
